jennifer lopez vegan dietIt’s always good to see when a celebrity adopts a healthy diet. Too many celebrities jump on a new fad, which leads to weight loss but is actually more harmful to your health.

The alkaline diet is a healthy weight loss diet, and so is the vegan diet, when done right.

That’s why I was happy to read about Jennifer Lopez’s vegan diet. Jennifer Lopez has a great figure already, but wanted to improve her health.

According to Medical News Today, “eating animal fats and proteins has been shown in studies to raise a person’s risk of developing cancer, diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, hypertension, heart disease, and a number of other illnesses and conditions.” This is reason enough to go vegan in my opinion.

But is going on a vegan diet, like Jennifer Lopez has done,  really the answer to for weight loss and a healthier life? Let’s look at some of the benefits:

  • Reduced saturated fat
  • Weight loss
  • Disease Prevention
  • Lower blood pressure
  • Higher energy
  • Better looking skin
  • Healthier looking nails
  • Lower sugar intake
  • Saving the planet!

You will need to take supplements however, as some nutrients can only be obtained from meat. For example vegans have a higher risk of having a vitamin B12 deficiency, which can be hazardous to your health. I tend to recommend going vegan for a short period of time like Jennifer Lopez did, or just reduce your meat intake gradually.

Remember meat is acidic, so eating to many animal products will create an acidic environment. If you are eating meat, make sure you mix in enough vegetables to counter it with some alkaline food.
